Join Osprey researcher, Greg Kearns, for an afternoon boat trip consisting of Osprey nest monitoring and possibly banding of juveniles. Greg Kearns has been a naturalist with the Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission for over 35 years at Patuxent River Park in Croom, Md. He is also an accomplished photographer, expert birder, licensed bird bander and leader of eco-tours both here and abroad. This is an invaluable opportunity to get an insider hands-on view of current Osprey research.
We will meet at Kings Landing Park at 12pm and carpool or caravan to Patuxent River Park. We may be able to take the NRD van schedule permitting. Arrival at Patuxent River Park by 1pm and the boat trip is approximately 2 hours in length so we should be finishing up on the boat around 3:30 and arriving back to Kings Landing around 4pm. Participants should bring water and sun protection.
Participants must have completed at least one volunteer shift in order to qualify for this experience. For more information please contact Jessy Oberright, Volunteer Coordinator jessy.oberright@calvertcountymd.gov
