*UPDATE* Due to road construction we will be meeting in the Harris Teeter parking lot at 5:50am and riding in the county van to Ward Farm. I will also send everyone an email reminding you of this once you respond
*Last day of banding so we will be taking extra time at the end of the day to remove the nets and haul gear out*
The deadline to signup for this opportunity is 11:59PM on 7/28/2021.
Join us for a fun day of bird banding at our Monitoring Avian Production and Survivorship (MAPS) bird banding station. You will learn why bird banding is an important part of bird research and get to see some birds up close and in the hand during the banding process.
Please bring a backpack, water bottle, packed lunch and comfortable closed toed hiking shoes. Even though it will be hot, pants (not shorts) are recommended as the trail can be lined with thorny plants and poison ivy. We will be hiking about 8 miles while checking the nets sometimes at a fast pace with limited chances to rest if it's busy.
When approaching Ward Farm Recreation and Nature Park from route 4 in Dunkirk you will be making the second right into the park. Continue on the road and park on the paved area behind the house. The first right will take you to the construction area and not to our meeting location.
It is very important that you arrive on time as we have to check the nets at specific times.
