Assist park staff as we construct a new single-track trail at Flag Ponds Nature Park!
Duties include:
- Building new single-track trail
- Digging using various hand tools including pulaskis and hoes
- Clearing corridor
Schedule: 8 am - 2 pm on Friday 4/30
Time Commitment: 3-6 hours, depending on volunteer availability
Materials and Equipment:
- Volunteers need to provide own gloves, water, and any necessary snacks
- Park will provide hand tools
- Must wear closed toe shoes and long pants
Special Skills: Most work will be performed outside under varying weather conditions. Frequent exposure to weather and temperature extremes, noise, dust, and dirt should be expected. Work performed requires the exertion of moderate to heavy physical effort and may involve lifting and moving objects over 50 pounds. Training will be provided on site of safe and proper use of tools, as well as trail building techniques and standards.
Work also includes: exposure to poison ivy, ticks, mosquitoes, snakes, spiders and other wildlife.
