A maximum number of eight volunteers will be needed to help with the upkeep of the King's Landing Park Meadow Labyrinth in Huntingtown.
Duties will include:
-Trimming
-Raking and disposing of cut portions
-Digging out invasive trees
-Eliminating stilt grass
Schedule: One day in June and one day in late August shall be selected for labyrinth beautification. More dates will readily be made available based on the interest and ability of the volunteers. Volunteers may work independently or as a group along with a staff member.
Time Commitment: 3 hours depending on availability of volunteers.
Equipment: Face masks must be provided by the volunteer and must be worn at all times. Rubber gloves provided by park staff. Trimming and shoveling equipment will be provided by King's Landing Park staff, but gloves will need to be supplied by the volunteers. Water bottles, especially for those hot summer days, should be brought by the volunteers as well.
Skills: Minimum knowledge of local plant life and gardening is required. Staff present will help educate volunteers on best practices and knowledge. Much bending will be required, as well as, upper body strength to carry trimmings and invasives to disposal areas.
Work also includes: Possible exposure to poison ivy, thorns, ticks, mosquitos, and flies.
