Who We Are

Our mission is to survey and document the diversity of the family Odonata (Dragonflies & Damselflies) of Calvert County.  Volunteers can work independently by surveying local ponds, lakes, streams, and waterways for any species of Odonata.

We hope to schedule group opportunities.

We ask that you attempt to photograph any discoveries and submit them to iNaturalist and Odonata Central.  Or if you are unsure of what you have you can email the Project Manager, Jason Avery at jasoneavery23@gmail.com

What We Do

Calvert Stewards work independently or with scheduled Opportunities to photograph and identify the dragonflies found throughout the county.

We also participate in the Dragonfly Mercury Project. Under the guidance of a staff naturalist, volunteer will help collect dragonfly larvae in local streams using dip nets. Dates will be posted in the Opportunities listing.

Observations are also documented through a project on iNaturalist.org.

Observations can also be added to odonatacentral.org
