Volunteer: Stiltgrass Pull and Swamp RompTeens and adults are invited to roll up their sleeves, get a little muddy, and help protect our natural areas! Join us for a hands-on volunteer project removing invasive Japanese stiltgrass, an aggressive plant that can crowd out native vegetation and reduce habitat quality. Volunteers will work together to pull stiltgrass and help give native plants room to thrive. After the work is done, the adventure continues with a Swamp Romp to the beaver dam! We’ll explore the wetland, look for signs of wildlife, and see firsthand how beavers shape their habitat. What to Bring: Clothes that can get dirty and wet, work gloves if you have them. Footwear should be appropriate for working in wet and muddy ares, such as knee-high rubber boots. Chest waders in a variety of sizes are available for the swamp romp (although a pair of old sneakers that tie really tight could be worn.) Drinks and a light lunch will be available following the project Come prepared to work, explore, and get muddy while making a meaningful difference for local wildlife and native habitats!
