Volunteers assist park staff in creating new trails at the Gatewood Preserve in Prince Frederick.
Duties include:
- Remove debris and obstacles from trails
- Build small boardwalks over wet areas
- Install trail markers and wayfinding signs
Schedule: Tentatively scheduled for March 5, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. subject to change.
Time Commitment: 4 hours
Materials and Equipment: Hand tools will be provided. Volunteers should bring work gloves, water bottles and any necessary trail snacks.
Special Skills: Most work will be performed outside under varying weather conditions. Frequent exposure to weather and temperature extremes, noise, dust, and dirt should be expected. Work performed requires the exertion of moderate to heavy physical effort and may involve lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds.
Work also includes: exposure to poison ivy, ticks, mosquitos, snakes, spiders and other wildlife.
