Who We Are

We teach and inspire others about the natural world.

What We Do

OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE:

CHESPAX field trips: During the fall and spring we host school groups daily at the nature parks, schools and other sites throughout the county. More information (pdf)

Nature Discovery programs: Throughout the year, volunteers can assist the staff naturalists with programs for families, adults, camps, and other audiences.

TRAINING:

Volunteers are provided training and supervision by staff naturalists and experienced volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

New volunteers must undergo a background check prior to starting their volunteer program Once a background check is completed, new volunteers must complete at least two observation days for most field trips. Program Managers will determine when a volunteer has demonstrated the skills required for the different programs.

SCHEDULE:

We ask that education volunteers commit in advance to dates or programs in order to ensure proper staffing and leadership for each field trip. Scheduling is done in advance at the beginning of each teaching season, though further scheduling may be done on a monthly or weekly basis.
