Kayak Leaders

Love to paddle? Help our naturalists with seasonal kayak trips along Calvert's beautiful waterways. Job duties include: unloading and launching boats, outfitting participants, and helping to guide the trip. Training about our specific trips and locations is provided (must be completed within the first year of volunteering), however interested volunteers should be strong paddlers and be able to pass a background check in order to help with trips.

To keep up the Kayak Leader qualification, volunteers must re-take a paddling certification class every other year. 

We ask that kayak volunteers commit in advance to dates or programs in order to ensure proper staffing and leadership for each trip. Scheduling is done in advance at the beginning of each season, though further scheduling may be done on a monthly or weekly basis.
